Web Configurator
A Web Configurator is a product configuration software tool that provides easy to use, selection criteria for the end user over the internet. It allows for streamlined product configuration by providing a simple drop down menu from which users can select options, and uses rules or constraints to ensure that these options are compatible and can be properly ordered or sold. A web-based product configurator is available via the internet through an internet browser and there is no software to install on a computer. Web-based applications such as an online product configurator are commonly referred to as being in the "Cloud." The term "cloud computing" is also a term used for software applications found online.
